Arnica Oil Benefits for Dogs
Arnica oil or gel is highly beneficial for dogs who have aches, pains or stiffness and arthritis. Find out the top 7 benefits of arnica in this article.
It was because of one of my most beloved dogs that I got into arnica oil and bought a high quality one for her - to massage her when she would be in pain and uncomfortable and it definitely helped.

I highly suggest using and keeping a bottle of arnica oil at home at all times for your dog's care - it can save you money and help dogs with skin issues + help with their aches and pains too.

Top 7 Benefits of Arnica Oil for Dogs -

1. Arnica Oil for Lymphatic Drainage in Dogs - Arnica oil can help dogs with lymphatic drainage which is great for all dogs but especially dogs that are sick or have cancer where detoxification is crucial.

2. Arnica Oil for Aches and Pains in Dogs - Arnica oil helps dogs with aches and pains so it is a 'must' for senior dogs, dogs with stiffness, arthritis, bruises, wounds, post-surgery as well as working dogs.

Massaging arnica oil on dog's legs and whole-body can provide a lot of benefits like relaxation, relief from fatigue or tiredness and can help boost circulation as well. This is especially important for dogs who need extra care after they have been very active throughout the day like in the case of police dogs, farm dogs, hunting dogs or service dogs.

3. Arnica Oil for Skin Issues in Dogs - Arnica oil can also help dogs with skin issues as arnica oil is an excellent emollient and will help heal dry dog spots, wounds, red rashes, sores and itchy skin.

4. Arnica Oil for Muscle Cramps or Muscle Soreness in Dogs - Arnica oil can help dogs with muscle cramps so can be used for active working dogs, sports dogs, farm dogs, senior dogs and so on. In fact, dogs that are so active should definitely be massaged once a week with arnica infused oil to relax their tired muscles and keep them healthy and active for a long time.

5. Arnica Oil for Urinary Tract Infection in Dogs - Arnica oil will help dogs with urinary tract infections - why? This is because of the intense pain dogs feel when they have uti's so massaging some homeopathic arnica gel or infused warm arnica oil on the bladder area and gently all over the body will help your dog feel better while healing from the uti.

6. Arnica Oil for Dog Hematoma - One of the greatest uses of arnica oil or arnica gel for dogs is for hematomas and bruising. Just apply little bit of arnica gel or arnica infused oil on

7. Arnica for Dry, Rough, Painful Dog Paws - I can't tell you how many times I have heard from my clients how their dog has dry, rough, painful paws? One of the best things I advise them is to mix some arnica gel or arnica infused oil or arnica salve with some coconut oil and apply to clean dog paws daily.

This tip is especially important during both the cold winter months for dogs who are out in the snow and also during summer months when the roads and walkways can get too hot for dog paws.

Precautions -

1. Do not use arnica essential oil on open wounds - arnica is only safe for closed wounds.

2. Use homeopathic arnica salve, gel or highly infused arnica oil that has been diluted greatly if needed

3. Use arnica infused oil so it is diluted well (not essential oil)

4. Use less as arnica is effective enough and not much is needed

5. It dilates blood vessels so again, safest option is to keep homeopathic gel or arnica oil infused in some carrier oil

6. Though arnica oil is really safe but make sure your dog doesn't lick arnica gel or oil - wrap the wound if needed

7. Use homeopathic arnica gel or oil as it is THE safest option for dogs

Bonus! - Going hiking or enjoying the outdoors in summer with your dog?

Here is one amazing tip to help your dog's dry skin spots.

Here's a wonderful question by one of my followers when her dogs started having dry skin spots - a very common problem with dogs.

When replying to Amanda's question, I immediately remembered arnica oil and hence, the answer...

Question -

"What essential oil(s) should I use with coconut oil for the dry spots that are from plopping down hard on the ground by big rotties? His ankle seems like it might need a drawing salve but conditioning as well. Thank you!" - Amanda

My Reply to Amanda -

"Not sure if drawing salve is needed as that is used when usually there is some pathogen/alien item inside the body like a wood chip or something...

What you can do if your dogs have dry skin is use blend of coconut oil + shea butter (organic and unrefined is best) and you may combine some arnica oil or gel - massage these in a blend with your palms on your dog's dry areas everyday 2 to 3 times and then once or twice a week once the condition improves and it will completely solve the issue!

Good luck and let me know how it worked out." - Somyata
